Vietnamese Drivers License
This is a step by step guide to help foreigners obtain a Vietnamese drivers license in about two weeks specifically in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This drivers license will be valid for both a motorcycle or car.
The advantage of getting a valid drivers license is firstly you will be following the local laws, secondly you will avoid any unnecessary fines, and thirdly your insurance will not pay if you are driving illegally.
Firstly, translate your license to Vietnamese...you will need to do this "Professionally" and can be done in downtown Ho Chi Minh City in District 1.
You will need provide the clerk with the following items and come back within 2-3 days to get the translated version of your license.
2 copies of your home license.
Around 200k VND (Might be a bit less)
*Make sure you grab a waiting ticket from the kiosk, should be an option number 6 for "Translation Services".

Now that you have picked up your translated documents you should make some backups of this and other important documents.
Make two additional copies of the translated license (If they get lost you don' want to have to start over)
Make two copies of your passport
Make two copies of your current visa
Three passport size photos 3x4cm
Go to the Transportation Office (SH & Cấp GPLX số) in District 3, remember to make sure you wear pants and proper attire into a government building. They will provide you with a form in both English & Vietnamese, fill it out and where it asks why you want a license you can simply answer: "So I can driver in Vietnam". They will take your photo and require a payment less than 200k VND and you will need to come back in about a week to pick you your new Vietnamese drivers license,
